Dr Wasan Al-Alwan
Iraq’s Health Attaché to Jordan
Dr Al-Alwan is currently the Iraqi Ministry of Health’s Attaché to Jordan in the Embassy of Iraq in Amman. She graduated from University of Baghdad’s Medical School in 1981 and worked as a consultant Anaesthetist both in Baghdad and Kerbala in Iraq until 1989 and then in the NHS in London, United Kingdom. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and worked as Director of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care at Newham University Trust in London until 2007. In addition to Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, Dr Al-Alwan main areas of interest are Training and Development as well as Healthcare Management, and through her experiences she has developed strong knowledge of the health systems of Iraq and UK. Along side her work, she is currently involved in the Training and Development of Iraqi Healthcare Professionals and establishing educational and professional links between Iraq and international organisations.
